In the 2023-2024 academic school year, our ArcPrep students engaged in transformative work, contributing to two significant public art installations. The first project, in collaboration with Rackham Auditorium and the Detroit Center, allowed students to immerse themselves in a vibrant creative process. The second project, "Unearthed Currents," funded by an Arts Initiative Grant, highlighted indigenous waterway systems and was displayed at Michigan Central Station. Through these projects, students interacted with a diverse array of artists, designers, and architects, enriching their understanding of architecture and urban design. This exposure broadened their perspectives, fostering a deeper appreciation for the social, cultural, and environmental dimensions of their work. This innovative teaching format demonstrates a shift in architectural pedagogy, emphasizing experiential learning and interdisciplinary collaboration, ultimately redefining how architecture can be taught.
